Covid Update

Welcome back to Karen Benner Hair Design!

I want to sincerely thank you for your patience during this challenging situation. The health, safety, and well being of my guests are very important to me. I have been working hard, sanitizing and making other preparations toward the reopening of our salon Monday, May 11.

The Florida State board of Cosmetology has posted guidelines for salons, to help keep you as a client and myself as a hairdresser safe. Those guidelines include the following points:

I have taken a certification class on sanitation protocols with BARBICIDE and OSHA.gov.

Only those customers who are receiving a service will be allowed in the salon.

I have set up an entry station for sanitation upon arrival. Please use the hand sanitizer when you enter the salon. You can also use hand sanitizer if you sneeze or cough or using the restroom.

During the first phase of reopening, masks are mandatory. We encourage you to bring your own mask with you, but if you not have one, we have some at the front desk. In accordance with guidelines in place at this time, we ask that you not remove your mask during your visit. Gloves are not mandatory as long as you follow the hand sanitizing procedures.

I will be wearing a face shield during the shampooing process.

Please understand, if you're getting a color retouch, there may be a $25 increase in the cost of your color because of the need to use more color product than usual. Most clients have not been seen for eight weeks... some even longer. Because of this, I must charge for the extra product that I use.

All tools, stations and equipment will be sanitized and or disinfected between each client. New capes will be provided for each client, and each client should change into a fresh robe, which will be provided in the dressing room. There is a box with individual bags, with sanitized coverups. When your service is over, please deposit the cover-up into the laundry basket, whose contents will be sanitized each evening. Every client will have their own cape sanitize and bagged. I will of course, follow the proper hand washing protocols between each client.

After each client service I must spend some time spraying disinfectant, leaving it on for five minutes, and disinfecting every single surface that we were working on.

All brushes and combs are individually put into a cleaning solution rinsed and put into a disinfecting solution, dried, and put into a sanitized tub. This is a lot of extra work But I want to keep all of us safe!

If we all work together, we can overcome the spread of this virus as well as other infectious diseases.
